Dr. Robert Ouko was Kenya's Foreign Minister, brilliant, respected internationally, and increasingly uncomfortable with what he knew about corruption in the Moi government. On 13 February 1990, his body was found near his farm in Koru, western Kenya. He had been shot and his body burned. The official investigation was a charade. A Scotland Yard detective who came to investigate was quietly sent home. A subsequent inquiry named government ministers as suspects. No one was ever charged. Ouko's murder became the most notorious unsolved political killing in Kenyan history.
