Sub Two Hours: Kipchoge Does the Impossible

On 12 October 2019, in the Prater park in Vienna, Austria, Eliud Kipchoge ran 42.195 kilometres in 1 hour 59 minutes and 40 seconds. He became the first human in history to run a marathon in under two hours. The conditions were not eligible for a world record: pacers rotated in to help him, the course was flat and laser-measured. But the performance was undeniable. The man from Nandi Hills in Kenya had done what doctors and scientists had debated for decades. He ran with a smile. Afterwards he said: No human is limited.
